Keeping Your Frenchie's Wrinkles Clean (Without Overthinking It)

Those face folds are half the reason you fell for the breed. A two-minute routine keeps them from turning into a problem.

Those face folds are half the reason you fell for the breed. They're also a warm, damp little pocket where moisture and bacteria love to settle — which is why a neglected wrinkle can turn red, smelly, and sore.

The routine is simple and quick. A few times a week, gently wipe inside each fold with a soft, damp cloth or an unscented pet wipe, then — this is the part people skip — dry it properly. Damp left behind is the actual problem. Pay attention to the nose rope and the folds around the eyes.

Call it in if you see redness that won't settle, a yeasty smell, constant rubbing, or any raw spots. And if your Frenchie is itchy all over rather than just in the folds, that's more likely an allergy story than a hygiene one — worth a conversation rather than more wiping.
